Scrapbooking Handbags

My new column, ArtSmarts, will appear in every other issue of Scrap and Stamp Arts. I'd love to hear from you about the projects in the article.

I'm very excited about the Feb 2007 ArtSmarts column.... and I know you will love it. I'll show you how to create three different Scrapbooking handbags - one for casual attire - the other two for dressy occasions.

The article came about after I had sticker shock seeing a photograph tote bag in my local market. Yes, the bag could be personalized with your own photo for about $99.00. But, I could thing of a lot more I could do with $99.00's!! I thought you could too. My Scrapbooking Handbag article will show you how you can use your own printers to create wonderful traveling works of art. And, you can do it inexpensively... avoiding sticker shock.

Family Cookbook
Scrap and Stamp Arts Magazine
November, 2006

My new article, ArtSmart's, in Scrap and Stamp Arts will show you how to create your own family cookbook. This is NOT your mother's cookbook. Have fun using rubber stamps to create these wonderful pages that will sure to be a hit with everyone. Family photographs are used to help readers match the recipe with those who made the delicious dishes. The article includes a pattern for you to enlarge.

The cookbook from the article was given to my mom and she has it on display. Family members love looking at it. I'll be making these as Christmas gifts this year, but that's just between you and me. I don't want to spoil the surprise!!

Easy Heart Wall Pockets
Polymer Cafe
Fall, 2006
Can you use a cookie cutter? Ever make cutout cookies?? That is how easy it is to make these beautiful heart pockets. While I used polymer clay to create these, you can use paper clay or another air-dry clay.

The article has photograph, step-by-step instructions to help you make these in a jiffy. Just be warned, they are so fun to make that you'll want to make a lot. They are so easy, even the kids can help!

These would be wonderful teacher or hostess gift for the upcoming holidays. Teachers: if you use air-dry clay, they would be great art projects for your class. Instead of using a chain with charms, you can use a ribbon as a holder.

My Italian Famliy History
Legacy Magazine
Fall, 2006
Years of research helped me discover my Italian family and you can read the highlights in Legacy's Fall issue. Learn how you can create miniature books to hold your family history and how to alter cigar boxes to hold those books.

I found that when I would show my family my research, they were not interested. However, as soon as I started creating these little gems, they loved looking at the information.

There are several different techniques used in making these books and boxes, you can then take those
learned techniques and apply them to other art projects!

INKING by Carol Heppner
New book

Do your inkpads sit on your shelf – only seeing the light of day when a rubber stamp enters the room? What if I showed you how to take that under-used inkpad and plain ol’ paper to create some awesome-colored paper that is suitable for use in altered arts, ATC’s, collage, paper arts, rubber stamping and scrapbooking?

I’ve specialized in ink techniques for over 10 years and written many articles on the subject. Now, you can share my passion for this media though my new book entitled: INKING. My book covers the types of inks in craft stores and how you can use them for more than just stamping an image. Learn fast and easy ink techniques to apply ink on any size paper, which can then be used in various scrapbooking, greeting cards, embellishments, and miniature book projects.
